Budget Confirms Price Disclosure Impact

Tonight’s Budget will enable pharmacists to focus on the health needs of patients after a series of budgetary and financial measures caused great uncertainty in the profession, the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia says. 

Acting President of the PSA, Dr Claire O’Reilly, said the profession has undergone a wide range of cost-saving measures as part of the government’s previously announced PBS changes. 

“These measures have been hard on the profession and PSA has long maintained that further cuts would have impacted on patient care,” Dr O’Reilly said.

 “PSA is pleased that speculation of wide-ranging Budget cuts did not eventuate. 

 “Pharmacists provide the most accessible, frontline professional health care service in Australia and it is vital to maintain pharmacy as a viable and sustainable profession. 

“PSA has been working with the Government to highlight the wide range of professional services that pharmacy delivers – and the additional services that it can deliver.
