FIP Opens Momentous 2011 Congress in Hyderabad

The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) opened the 2011 Congress with a monumental

visit by the President of India during the Opening Ceremony of the 71st World Congress of Pharmacy

and Pharmaceutical Sciences. All were honoured by Her Excellency’s presence and inspired by her

words of motivation for pharmacists’ potential in India and around the world.

Following the visit of the President and Government Officials, the Assistant-Director General of the

World Health Organization (WHO) was present to sign the official:

 WHO-FIP Joint Statement on the Role of the Pharmacist in Tuberculosis Care and Control with FIP

President Dr Michel Buchmann. This Statement will set the stage for increased pharmacist

involvement in the prevention of and care of patients with tuberculosis; a timely and relevant issue

considering the spread of tuberculosis in India.

the 2011 Host Madsen Medal.

 

FIP is very pleased to bring the 2011 Congress to the intriguing setting of Hyderabad. Almost 2000

delegates have convened in India for a programme centered on increasing safety and quality of

medicines and patients on a global level.
