Visit by Japanese Community Pharmacists

8 November 2011

On 18-Oct-2011, PSS hosted a group of pharmacy leaders from the Sogo Medical from Japan. Sogo Medical now employs in excess of 1,100 pharmacists with its business covering a diversified range from retail pharmacy business, to health insurance, leasing & installment sales of medical equipment to clinic & hospital management etc.

The corporate details of the Sogo Medical Co Ltd can be seen here. This marked the 3rd year where PSS has been interacting with the community pharmacy group from Japan and this session was represented by our Community Chapter committee led by Ivan Chew. In the previous meeting about 2 years ago (see here). It has always been good to maintain the link & understand the depths & spread of what community pharmacy practice would be, especially in a landscape where there have been much more experience in dealing with chronic & long term healthcare needs for a much larger elderly citizen pool like the one in the Japanese community.

On behalf of PSS, we would like to thank Mr. Ivan Chew for taking his precious time to attend to the Sogo mission & also to thank Mr. M Takizawa of Mitsui & Co. for making this session possible.
