Registrations have opened for Australia’s premier pharmacy event, the Pharmacy Australia Congress (PAC13). This year’s event is being held in Brisbane with a new format and extra features to ensure that attendance at the congress is an experience second to none.

In a first for a pharmacy conference in Australia, full registration delegates to PAC13 will receive a 7-inch, 4.1 android tablet containing the conference handbook and other features, as part of their conference satchel.

Acting President of PSA, Dr Claire O’Reilly, said PAC 13 would be better than ever and one of the main differences with this year’s program is the way CPD will be delivered.

“Clinical information will also be taught with a session on how to implement that clinical knowledge into your everyday pharmacy practice,” Dr O’Reilly said.

“Consumer perspectives relating to pharmacy health topics will also play a central role in the Continuing Professional Development at PAC13.

“Another key difference of PAC in 2013 is that the Sunday program will be completely dedicated to workshops.

“Hot topics in pharmacy including cardio vascular disease, everyday minor ailments and male mental health are all standouts in this year’s workshop line-up. Popular workshops will be repeated on the day, meaning you won’t miss out on the ones you want to attend.”

The theme for PAC13 is ONE profession, ONE focus, ONE voice which will focus on unity in the profession, in the delivery of services and in the goal of better health outcomes is the key to the profession growing in the future and remaining viable and sustainable while continuing to improve the health and wellbeing of the population.

“An exciting range of national and international speakers including Professor Zubin Austin from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto, Canada, and Professor Ian Frazer, the man behind the first cancer vaccine, will give delegates insights and updates on some of the latest developments in pharmacy practice, as well as identifying issues and trends which pharmacists need to be aware of,” Dr O’Reilly said.

“In addition, the offer of a tablet for full registration delegates is an exciting innovation, and having the handbook delivered electronically is a bonus for all delegates,” Dr O’Reilly said.

PAC13 will be held at the Brisbane Convention Centre from 10-13 October 2013. To    register, go to psa.org.au/pac
