Positive patient outcomes shown in QUMAX evaluation

The QUMAX Program was jointly developed by the

Pharmacy Guild of Australia and National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) as part of the Fourth Community Pharmacy Agreement and was funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

The program aims to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This was achieved by providing Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) support to participating community pharmacies and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) in rural and urban Australia. The program focussed on trialling a number of QUMactivities to address the known barriers to access Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) medicines in non-remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
